Memo to the Press Secretary Caroline Levitt: Trump’s speech to the Jan 6 insurrectionists is an example of incitement to violence; not the constitutionally protected expression of ideas in opposition to governmental policies and actions by journalists, lawmakers, and ordinary citizens. To suggest otherwise is to either seriously misunderstand the concept of free speech in a democratic society or, more likely, to deliberately distort and manipulate the facts in service to mendacity, deception, and the pursuit of perpetual obfuscation. Dissent is not a crime; it is eminently patriotic!
