The US War On Terror: The Folly Continues

As was the case in Iraq, Pakistan, and Yemen , the much lauded and largely revered Special Ops have exceeded their 'advisory' role and are directly implicated in the deaths of innocent civilians and in the subsequent cover up of the event in Somalia. Christina Goldbaum's recent piece in The Daily Beast has chronicled the incident wherein a group of ten civilian farmers and one child were killed in a raid supervised and conducted by US Special Operation Forces in league with the Somalian National Army. In spite of official denial of civilian deaths, cash payments were made to the grieving families as a grim acknowledgment of this atrocity.

Meanwhile, the MSM focuses on the political theater currently on display in Washington DC as the US continues to wage an indiscriminate and indefinite 'war on terror' enabling the recruitment of an endless supply of 'enemies' with each act of unlawful murder across the globe. Once again, it's useful to remember Donald Rumsfeld's cynical pronouncement in the wake of the debacle in Iraq..."we are creating more terrorists than we can kill". He uttered this remark with thinly disguised smile knowing full well that his masters at Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon, General Electric, and Northrop-Grumman (just to name a few) were well pleased with the assessment. Subsequent administrations including the current dysfunctional regime have continued to participate in the ongoing folly of enacting violent response to an original provocation. The pursuit of this misguided and counterproductive strategy has made us less safe, destroyed our credibility and stature throughout the world, and created a nightmarish dystopian reality which the next generation must now attempt to negotiate...an obscene legacy of despair, fear, and trepidation. This is not reflective of our better self as a nation. We can and we must reverse course...the stability and survival of the world depends on it.
